Another forum I'm on has a "Thanks" and "Groan" feature. It's a handy way to say "I agree" or "This post rocks" without actually typing out a post saying exactly that. All that happens is that a little box comes under the post with a "The following users thank [UserName] for this useful post" note. A "Groan" is obviously the opposite...I don't see how it'd be useful here, but since we tend to get a lot of immaturity and idiots on my other hangout, it can shine at times.

We used to have a rep system too, like on here, only we could give negative reps as well. It just became a popularity contest and the admins got rid of it. I like this system a lot better...give rep if you feel like it, if not, no harm done.

No idea what a "Like" button is, but it sounds similar to the Thanks feature.

Xbreed, yeah its similar, you just hit the button when you like the thread, or the picture or whatever.

There isn't a dislike one, do you can't make arguements.

It's basically like if someone puts up some pictures that I really like, I would be able to click the "like" button then it would say "Yellow Dog likes this thread"

That's not exactly how the Thanks/Groan feature works. It puts # of thanks & # of groans. but also keeps track of users who give out X# of thanks & groans. It doesn't show (anybody but admin) who likes/groans.

I've seen the 'thanks button' feature on another forum...it's usually for individual posts though not entire threads.

I'm still pondering this ... I've had a busy few days. I'm not ignoring this & will look into it more fully very soon. I've found the hacks to install the feature(s) but haven't done anything more than skim the details.
